Second-from-bottom Ulster increased the gap between them and dead last Leicester Phantoms to four points when they beat Glasgow 1-0, with a 73rd-minute goal from Finnish international Janne Sykkanen.

While Bristol Pirates won 1-0 at home to Newcastle Geordies through a Jamie Ross strike in the 64th minute.

And finally Leeds Lightning won 1-0 at East Anglia Knights with an Adam Stockwell goal five minutes from time.

Saturday's Action from Round 1

FC Nottingham cruised to a 3-0 win at Glasgow, while South Coast Rangers managed a 1-0 win at Dublin.

Manchester Rockers defeated Edinburgh 2-0, Newcastle Geordies easily defeated Sheffield Strikers 3-0, while Dragons and East Anglia were held to a 1-1 draw.

The chance of the match came from the East Anglia's Danny Basingstoke who hit the bar after 30 minutes.

London United 2-1 Knights

Saturday 20th March

HMV Park, London. Att: 42,083.

Carlos Torres-Pizarro's winner made it three wins from three for London United after beating the Knights 2-1.

However, HMV Park became silent after four minutes' play when East Anglia's rookie winger Jonathon Goulding scored his first BritLeague goal to put the Knights 1-0 ahead.

But United's Brazilian striker Rodrigo Santos equalised on the half-hour mark before Uruguayan striker Torres-Pizarro scored the winner four minutes from time.

Burn 1-2 Knights

The East Anglia Knights made it two wins out of two with a 2-1 win in Belfast.

A sell-out crowd turned up for the Burn's first home game since the club's three-year hiatus, but it was the visitors who had the last laugh.

Danny Basingstoke scored a wonder goal on the halfway line just eight minutes into the match after he spotted goalkeeper Mark Kearney-Bleakley off his line.

But Belfast's Slovenian striker Matjaz Krizanovic scored the equaliser on the stroke of half-time.

With a hour gone in a match, Adam Carter struck the ball finely into the net after schoolboy defending from the Burn.

Knights 3-1 Shamrocks

The East Anglia Knights stormed to victory with a 3-1 win over the Dublin Shamrocks in the first game ever played at the Knights' new ground in Suffolk.

Adam Gaffney headed in the 1-0 from a Danny Basingstoke corner.

But fellow centre-half Richard Hately equalised for the Irish side with a header of his own after a Steve Berry corner.

However, it was a Hately error that gifted the lead back to the Knights when the Irishman miscontrolled a pass and England star Adam Carter ran past him with the ball and rounded bemused goalie Shane Murphy.

And Welsh striker Karlo Krzystofski marked his first league appearance since September 2009 after recovering from a serious knee injury with a wonderful chip from 30 yards after he saw Murphy completely off his line.

MLF Cup 2008: London United 3-1 Knights

Sunday 16th November - MLF Cup Final 2008
Wembley Stadium, London

London United defeated the East Anglia Knights 3-1 at Wembley in the MLF Cup final.

Adam Carter put the Knights in front after only six minutes.

But CraiCo, Rodrigo Santos and John Macdonald scored United's goals.

The MVP was rightly Macdonald as the recently named Rookie of the Year (the first rookie to win MLF Cup MVP) had a solid defensive game, as well as scoring a fine header to make it 3-1.

The two teams contested the last ever MLF Cup final as the league decided that the Winterman Trophy will go to the team who finish 1st in the regular season, as the schedule was as clogged up as it could ever be.

Ruckus 1-0 Knights

The Reading Ruckus beat the East Anglia Knights 1-0 on Friday Night Football.

After the Reading Football Club's relegation from the Premier League last week, the Ruckus showed why they might be the new talk of the town with attractive, attacking football.

And they were rewarded in the 66th minute when César Escobar threaded a pass for Stefan Shanahan, who made no mistake in firing home.
